ListServ Guidelines

ListServ is an application that distributes messages to subscribers on an electronic mailing list.

Thank you for being part of the ABS_mail ListServ, the mailing list of the members and affiliates of the Association for Borderland Studies.

ABS_mail is a great way to announce academic events, publications, fellowships, scholarships, etc. It is also a great way to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation on topics relevant to border studies.

To ensure the best possible experience for all subscribers, please follow these simple guidelines.

Send your communications directly to and always use the subject line to identify the purpose of your message.

Do not address you message to any particular individual, but to all your colleagues in the ABS mailing list.

Do NOT use the list to thank someone for sending information, or to say hello to a colleague.

Replies send the message to ALL list members so make sure you intend to send a communication to the whole list instead of a specific person.

Remember to put your name, e-mail address, affiliation, and contact information in all of your messages in case someone wants to contact you personally instead of posting a public announcement.

ABS_mail is provided as service for the ABS memberships and we’ll try to maintain it as a channel of information and ideas that are of interest and beneficial to all members. However, at the end this depends on all of us. Thank you for your cooperation and consideration of these guidelines.
